Benazir Income Support Program’s Money Has Stopped – What’s the New Scheme?
Today, I will tell you everything about it. The Benazir Income Support Program’s Rs. 13,500 installment, which was given every three months, will no longer be provided. There could be several reasons for this.
The first reason is that this money was being distributed to people by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The funds came from Benazir’s own savings, from which Zakat was deducted, and then the money was given to the poor. Initially, the amount was very small,
but over time, it was increased to Rs. 13,500. However, so far, this increased amount has not been given to a single person.
This suggests that PPP is not getting votes from the public—they mostly get votes from Sindh, and even there, they allegedly forcefully secure votes. Otherwise, they have no vote bank because to gain public support, you either need a strong narrative or you must work for the people. Currently, PPP has no narrative and no performance record.
On the other hand, PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) wins votes based on its narrative, even though they also don’t do much work—they just talk and criticize others, never presenting their own plans. Meanwhile, PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) has actually worked in Pakistan, won people’s hearts, and gained votes.
Since PPP has no narrative or performance, they have angrily stopped the funds. Now, the Rs. 13,500 that people were receiving will no longer be given.
What’s the New Scheme?
The new scheme is called “Bachat Depo” (Ration Card). Under this program:
– Eligible people will be given ration cards.
– A Bachat Depo(similar to old Utility Stores) will be set up, where people can get free groceries
– Those who were receiving money under BISPwill now be included in this program.
Bachat Depo is not a new idea—it existed in the past, where people received free rations, but later dictators, Musharraf, and Imran Khan shut it down. Now, it is being restarte.
This is an excellent initiative—if implemented properly, it will be very beneficial.
How Do We Know About This?
This information was officially posted on PML-N’s Twitter account, stating that Bachat Dep will be launched in Punjab, and people will be given ration cards.
Now, instead of focusing on the discontinued BISP payments, people should shift their attention to Bachat Depo and apply for it.
